"Researchers at Kochi University will begin clinical testing next spring on the use of umbilical cord blood taken at birth to treat premature babies who develop cerebral palsy.

While cord blood has been used to treat leukemia, this will be the first use of it to treat cerebral palsy.

Cord blood has drawn attention as a possible source of stem cells along with induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.

Congenital cerebral palsy affects about two out of every 1,000 children."

Just another day in the cord blood and stem cell industry making significant progress battling so many diseases.
